This was my dinner last night. You’re probably wondering why I’m showing you a picture of a pear/gorgonzola/walnut salad? It was a super yummy salad with baby kale, and a stone ground mustard dressing. Up until recently I LOATHED blue cheese. How can someone eat cheese that smells like dirty gym socks? At the top of the foods that I’ve also hated had to be mustard- I couldn’t cook with it, smell it, or be anywhere near it without turning my stomach.
Well……yoga practice changes you. It changes your very DNA. What you used to hate, yoga/meditation turns to love. And I’m not just talking about the food you eat. I’m talking about hate/dislike on a larger scale. The dislike between republicans and democrats, or that annoying co-worker who is always bothering you, or somebody of a different religion, even your family members you disagree with. This is one of the very best reasons to practice yoga, because the whole world needs more LOVE. No one can get it for you, or buy it, or sell it, only the practice of yoga done over a long time, consistently, and with JOY can bring the very deep sense of LOVE and acceptance that I’m talking about here.
It’s funny and ironic. I started this practice to get a great workout, and to stay injury free in my other pursuits. Not once, did I think about the practice of yoga turning a very basic level of disliking into Loving. The practice of yoga tears down your walls that you put up, I think you know what I’m talking about here. If it can change me from hating blue cheese, and mustard, just think what it could do for you!!!
