Brain and Body Training

As we get older, it’s important to “train the brain”, to keep up high functioning in critical thinking, solving, analytical problems.  I can think of no better way to train the brain than Yoga.  Yes, Yoga opens your mind up, letting you see new ideas, new ways to solve problems.  Our brain is limited to past experiences.  When we accomplish that pose that we have been working on for awhile, it actually clears way for new thinking to evolve.  In all of us, there is also part of us that resists change.  Change is hard, and it involves setting aside  time to learn something new.  Often, big changes take time.

I’ve been going through a lot of changes recently.  As a business owner, I’m constantly asked to evolve…..my business plans….software…..schedules…. to name a few.  I’m the office manager, toilet cleaner, yoga teacher, tech support, web designer, and social media expert. (I’m still working on the social media expert!)  One problems that I’ve been working on is the TV in the foyer.  For the past 6 months, on and off, I’ve been trying to show a power point presentation on the TV, that will keep you abreast of upcoming events in the studio.  Once I got the power point presentation up, then I had to figure out a easy way to change the slides.   In my spare time I would google or you tube different ways to do this.  At one point, I could pull up pictures on my iphone, and display them on the TV.  This was a break through!!   I’m sure this would have entertained you,  🙂 but it was not the presentation that I wanted.  Finally, an angel stepped in and helped me.  I’ve got to say, it’s amazing.  I make changes on my icloud, load up slides, and from there pull it up on my phone, and make the changes to the presentation;  anywhere I would like to.  I’m pretty amazed at what I’ve been able to accomplish.

I also realize the above steps wouldn’t have been possible without yoga.  This amazing practice brings me a clarity like no other activity.  I literally don’t even have to think of HOW to solve problems, solutions come to me in meditation.  It’s like I’ve got a yoga buddy, spiritual advisor, tech support right by my side.  That, my friends, is WHY we should practice yoga on a regular basis.  Not only will I have a functioning 100 year old body (from the yoga postures), but a clear bright mind.  That is a precious gift.
