Be Love

I am reminded on a daily basis of the power that yoga practice has on the mind and the thoughts.  Most of us don’t know about this benefit of a practice.  The mind is a powerful tool and unfortunately, most of us tend to worry, stress, and get angry.  When we experience these emotions, we fall into a fight or flight mode, where our options are limited.  In fact, the more we  stress the more stress we attract in our lives.  I did some googling on this subject, and came across many articles on positive thinking.  Turns out that people who meditate on a daily basis experience greater health and more positive thinking than anyone else.

The great news is that yoga practice helps us meditate after we have moved our body.  That is where the practice leads us to…….a calm state.  Without yoga practice our mind tends to act “like a drunken monkey stung by a scorpion”.  In other words, go from one thought to the next thought, without any gaps in-between, without any clarity.  Sometimes, I set and contemplate how much this practice has changed my thoughts.  Before yoga I thought a lot about myself.  With yoga in my life, I experience more Love.  I love myself more; I love others more.  This is what we are called to do:  Love.

The affects of a yoga practice are like a small trickle of water leaking from a faucet.  You really don’t think it’s that powerful, or it will add up to much.  But anyone knows how much water comes out when it’s a steady drip, drip.  Yoga done everyday is a steady pour of positive thoughts that will come in and change your relationships, your career, your family, and your friends.  The reach is broad and lasting.  This is certainly true in my life.

When you do have a bump in the road of life, continuing your yoga practice will help you over the bump with positive thinking.  You will still have to climb over that bump, but it will be much easier going, than without a yoga practice.  Don’t believe me?  I challenge you to practice yoga everyday for 6 months, and report back to me on How you are feeling.
